Hang on, how is Q1 obviously D?
I see 3 sentences somewhat related to that option:
(1) townspeople deserted the two existing churches....in droves
(two) Instead, townspeople gathered in an expanding assortment of voluntary associations...to promote diverse projects for the common proficient
(3) The privileged classes, particularly the village elite, were remarkably active in these campaigns
Perhaps i of the MGMAT tutors could kindly correct me where I'm wrong hither, simply to claim that "many" village elite abandoned the churches on above information lone necessarily assumes that volunteer project interest and continued churchgoing are mutually sectional events? (why can't a tiny proportion of elite get out the church building but the bulk of them still contribute to non-church activities?)
Or possibly the answer choice makes the spring that because so many townspeople left the churches and so few elites exist as a proportion of said townspeople, information technology must necessarily be the case that "many" elites also left? That'south a lot of leaps to make for an RC passage that had four long paragraphs. I'd appreciate a clarification from 1 of the MGMAT tutors on here, and if not, the Q should exist modified, every bit I see no correct options among the 5.

I am no expert, simply i will share my idea process i followed to become this question right.
Choice D - ascertain Agree's place in American history post- Independence
Though the passage starts with how concord staked its claim to exist birthplace of independence , there is no other information that would provide a link between american history and concord city is given in the passage.
Afterwards the first line in paragraph one , the entire passage talks well-nigh the state political and societal data of the hold urban center and also goes on to state how it evolved in two different decades and ends with the management concord proceeded in subsequently times.
So from the data provided, we could decode that the writer is interested in explaining virtually economic , political status of concord in 1825'due south and how it changed in 1830'south and changes information technology went through in later stages.

This question tripped me up too. When narrowing down to A and B I went for A because "manufacturing was bustling" and thus indicating it was growing. Non convinced with Q5. The question is almost the purpose of a noun entity i.e. "modern capitalistic arrangements". The function of the substantive entity is to present a dissimilarity.
The office of the judgement "On the farms, the one-time piece of work community—the huskings, roof-raisings, and apple tree bees—past which people cooperated to complete essential chores gave way to modern backer arrangements." is to illustrate a modify but the role of that judgement cannot be reduced to a mere phrase.

When it is asked - What was the primary purpose for using "XYZ" ? Should nosotros reply in the whole passage'south context or just the immediate context of the phrase "XYZ" ?

We are not asked a mere function of the phrase, merely implicitly what changes did "modern backer arrangements" bring. Now though the phrase is mentioned as a result of some changes in practices, but what did information technology bring with itself were the distinctions between the people. How earlier at that place was trust, friendship amid people and how it changed to arrangements on ground on requirements, in turn implying that the town'southward social structure had inverse.
